My Role

Mountboard, Split Pins, Acrylic Paint. Created For Short Film. 2020​

This rod puppet was created for Reptile Road, a short puppetry film created by students at RWCMD during the first COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in the UK. This puppet was influenced by the freedom of leaving the house for daily excercise.

Designing

The idea for the runner puppet came from this illustration I created from a photoshopped sketch. I wanted to keep this illustrative style in the puppet, so chose to create a flat card puppet. As this puppet was for screen, I wanted it to be simple, effective and rendered with detail.

Making

The puppet was created using mountboard and split pins. The puppet was then mounted onto a A DIY greenscreen rig made out of a green towel, a piece of pipe and a cardboard box. The joys of lockdown! Using the greenscreen, I took the puppet into Adobe Premier Pro to edit her on to the background.
